Should I upgrade my Web browser?

Yes. We recommend that your computer have the latest browser version that it will support. This will help ensure you have a good experience using our site, as well as protect you from common threats while using any Web site. While we attempt to support older browsers, some elements of our site work best with more current browsers.

To check which browser version you have, click "Help" from the menu of your browser, and then "About XYZ," where "XYZ" is the name of your browser. The number you see displayed by your browser is its version number. For optimal results, please upgrade your browser with a current version of Internet Explorer or FireFox.

Apple users should use a current version of IE or FireFox when accessing this site. We do not guarantee support of the Safari browser, though we believe our site is compatible.

What are "cookies," and does this site use them?

A cookie is a small piece of text information that a Web site stores in the Web browser. The cookie is stored on your computer. Only the Web site that creates the cookie can read it. Our Web site uses cookies to customize your learning experience and ensure the security of your communication with this site.

A session cookie is:

  • does not capture any information that identifies you personally.
  • stores information about your browser session.
In order to use the registered areas of this site, your Web browser must be configured to accept first party cookies. Also, you can not use proxy surfing software, which blocks identification of your IP address. (We need this information in order to track your individual CME activities.) Cookies from this site are perfectly safe, and we will not compromise your privacy. (View our privacy policy.)

Your browser may warn you when you are about to accept a cookie. To ensure that your browser is set to accept all cookies, please click the appropriate link for your browser type below and follow the instructions.

    Does this site use JavaScript?

What are "plug-ins" or "third party browser software" and does my computer need to have any of these in order to use this site?

Plug-ins (third party browser software) are small programs that extend the capability of your Web browser. For example, when you access a Web page that contains certain types of text, video, sound, or animation files, the plug-in automatically launches and displays or plays that material. We provide PDF downloads of program handbooks and other documents, as indicated by this icon: . PDF is a file type used to distribute documents over the Web, and to read these files, you need to download and install Adobe Acrobat Reader, if you do not already done so. These courses use Flash programming, and you need to have a Flash-enabled browser to view these course sections. You should download the latest free Flash player at the Adobe Web site.

I use software to block pop-up window ads. Should I disable it while using this site?

Yes. Your pop-up blocking software should "allow" pop-ups from this site, otherwise you may not be able to access important course tutorials that we display in pop-up windows.

Will my corporate firewall interfere with my Web browsing?

A firewall is a security system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. If you are accessing this site from behind a corporate or organizational firewall, you may experience difficulty using some of the features, like JavaScript, Secure Socket Layer (the payment area of this site), and perhaps other technologies. Please attempt to use this site from a computer that is not behind a corporate firewall. If this is not possible, please check with your system administrator to find out what alternatives are available to you at your corporate location.

What if the links won't work or if I experience error messages or other technical difficulties?

If you receive an error message while taking this course, the most likely cause is a temporary data transmission error. Sometimes certain elements of a computer's operating system or browser conflict with the programming on various Web sites. This may affect your computer's ability to view our Web pages or to make payment and print out a CME certificate. If you experience difficulties, here are the steps you should take:
    1. If you are not on a payment page of this site, the first solution is to click on the "Refresh" or "Reload" button on your browser to start over. If this doesn't work, you may need to . . .
    2. Shut down and restart your computer. Rebooting your system will often clear out any system conflicts.
    3. Delete your cache (your computer's temporary storage location for web files). If you do not know how to do this, click on your browser's "Help," then search in the index for "cache." Follow the instructions for clearing or deleting your cache.
    4. If you are still encountering difficulties, please click the "Feedback" link found at the bottom of the Web page on which you are experiencing problems. Once you have described your question or problem and submitted the Feedback form to us, we will respond as soon as possible to your request for technical support.

Why is somebody else's user name displaying, and what can I do about it?

If you see somebody else's first and/or last name displaying, you are most likely sharing a computer with another person who has registered for this program and whose user session is still active.

This is easily fixed. Click the "Sign Out" link in the footer of any page of the site. Or, go to this site's home page and sign in with your user name and password. You will be recognized by your name. When you sign in, this will automatically end the other user's session.

How can I receive further technical support?

Technical support is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 A.M. until 5:30 P.M., PST (Arizona). If you have followed the above instructions but continue to encounter difficulties, please let us know by clicking the Feedback link at the bottom of the page on which you are having problems. The Feedback form allows you to tell us about the problem you are experiencing, and it also provides us with valuable information to help solve the problem. Alternatively, you can call 520-722-1970. We cannot provide technical support on weekends and holidays.
